Application Process

Learn the process, requirements and basic documents that are required to obtain a Visa for your target country. Below is a brief excerpt from this section:

You must bring the entire application package, including the completed application form, the processing fee and all of the required documents and copies, to the embassy or consulate. A listing of all fees can be found here (Spanish). Depending on individual situations, you may be expected to furnish additional documents. Begin the application process as early as possible.

The following documents are generally required as part of the visa application:

• Application form, printed and completed (Short-Stay/Schengen Visa or Long-Stay Visa), depending on your country of residence and purpose of visit. (See the Resources page for a link to application forms.)

• Original passport and copy of the bio-data page. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your date of departure.

• Two recent color passport photos. 

• Proof of health insurance.

• Proof that you will leave the country at the end of your stay.

• Documents demonstrating the purpose of your stay. For example, an employment contract, business arrangements and contacts, or letter of acceptance from an approved academic institution.
