Cover Letter Guidelines and Samples
Cover letters, or ‘motivational letters’ as they often are called, can be underestimated as a key selling tool in the application process. Just as important as the CV or application form, a cover letter should express interest in the position and highlight key selling points that explain your suitability for the job.
Résumé/CV Guidelines and Samples
Despite its literal translation as the ‘course or path of life,’ the Curriculum Vitae (CV) welcomed by Irish-based employers is one that organizes only relevant experiences, skills and qualifications in a succinct manner. While formats, including the length, have undergone considerable change over the past 20 years, the most widely used in Ireland still tends to be the reverse-chronological. However, the chrono-functional, or compromise CV — a cross between a chronological format and a functional format — is proving a highly effective way of being short-listed for an interview.
