Due to its strategic central location, Belgium, and Brussels in particular, is home to many corporate headquarters. In a recent survey, international real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield ranked Brussels as Europe's fifth most attractive city for setting up a company. Furthermore, the presence of more than 1,300 foreign companies in Brussels helped create a network of SMEs that cater to the needs of the city's global business community.

Employment Outlook

Online jobsite advertising for management positions in Belgium is up by 15 percent from a year ago, ranking it as the top growth occupation.

Bolstered by consumer confidence, the Belgian e-commerce sector is growing. In terms of marketing, being at the crossroads of Latin and Germanic cultures, Belgium is an attractive test market for multinationals. Belgian SMEs, meanwhile, still prefer traditional marketing via the web and print, according to a recent study reported by the Belgian Direct Marketing Association, indicating continued opportunities for marketing firms.

Salaries

The salary range for a marketing manager in Brussels as 38,800 to 61,000 EUR annually. An experienced product marketing manager in Antwerp can command an annual median salary of more 68,000 EUR. The average salary for a business development manager is 55,480 EUR.

It includes agencies active in all kinds of communication disciplines such as advertising, account planning, media, direct marketing, brand activation and e-marketing. Together, these agencies represent about 75 percent of all national, regional and local advertising placed by agencies.
