The Austro-British Society was founded in 1946. The first members were British soldiers stationed in Carinthia after World War II. The purpose of the society was to promote mutual understanding between the Austrian and British people. Now it has clubs in Carinthia, Tyrol and Upper Austria, and is open to anyone interested in Britain and its culture.
