Marketing is hot again, as new media channels boost businesses bottom line. One-third of marketing and advertising executives plan to add full-time staff, according to a survey from The Creative Group. Slightly more than one-half (51 percent) of advertising firms queried, and 33 percent of marketing departments plan to add to their payrolls this year.
Areas of Job Promise
Although concerns about the economy may continue to limit the growth of jobs in marketing, interactive, search engine optimization (SEO) and market research jobs will grow this year, according to Monster.com, with new Internet technologies again a leading generator of marketing jobs.
Positions in strongest demand, according to The Creative Group and Monster.com, include:
Information architects: The most highly sought candidates are proficient in developing site and content maps and page schematics, as well as storyboarding functional prototypes with Flash, HTML or PowerPoint.
Interactive marketing managers: The greatest demand is for candidates with extensive experience managing website design and development, email marketing programs and social media strategy; identifying new marketing opportunities that support business, brand and customer goals; and collaborating with senior management on product launches.
