Excerpted from the Spain Career Guide

Spain's IT market is the fifth-largest in Europe. This sector is dominated by SMEs, with only 4 percent of companies claiming more than 50 employees. More than half of Spain's 30,000+ IT companies are located in Madrid and Barcelona.

Certification and Education Requirements

Most IT related jobs require either a university degree (six years) or a technical degree (three years). Some of the higher profile jobs may require certifications for specific computer languages, such as C++. The Ministerio de Educación (MEC) (Spanish Ministry of Education) can determine a foreign diploma’s Spanish equivalent.
