Excerpted from the Argentina Career Guide
Banking in Argentina is less developed than in other Latin American countries. To date, the country has not yet completely reformed its financial sector, particularly in the areas of risk taking and compensation, and has not yet implemented the regulations for Basel-III. Basel-III (Third Basel Accord) is a world-wide voluntary regulatory standard on bank sufficiency, stress testing and market risk that provides a set of financial regulations due to be implemented by the end of 2019.
Traditional banking is on the wane. Technology, customer behavior, market fluctuations and regulations are all driving changes in the banking industry. Specifically, mobile banking is on the rise, reducing the need for brick and mortar branches.
Areas of Job Promise
The insurance and financial services industries need accountants, tax specialists and other financial professionals. There is an increasing need for professionals with bank management experience following the financial meltdown. There is also a need for professionals with knowledge of increased bank regulations.
This is just a short sample of what you’ll find in over 100 pages of information in the Argentina Guide.
