The Danish medtech cluster is among the top in Europe, specializing in R&D, design and innovation, market testing and high-tech production. 'Medicon Valley,' the region of Øresund in eastern Denmark and southern Sweden, is considered one of Europe's top biotech sites, along with Cambridge in the UK and Basel in Switzerland. Overall, there are more than 150 biotech companies in Denmark. The Danish biotech sector specializes in cancer, bioenergy, metabolic diseases, inflammatory and infectious diseases, CNS and neuroscience, and drug development.

The average monthly salary for private-sector workers is 39,389 DKK, while it is 32,330 DKK for public sector workers.

Danish Association of Biotechnology Industries
Dansk Biotech, the Danish Association of Biotechnology Industries, works to improve conditions for biotechnological research and production in Denmark and to further the common interests of members, nationally and internationally. It represents the biotechnological industry within drug development, industry and foods (red, white and green biotechnology), and spans all areas of research, development and production.
