Within the marketing and advertising fields, there is an increased demand for interactive professionals and graphic designers. Employers report difficulty finding skilled creative professionals with the right balance of technical and soft skills. The most sought-after marketing and advertising occupations include user experience designers, web designers and developers, graphic designers and producers, copywriters and editors.
The Canadian manufacturing sector spans many industries, including chemicals, plastics, rubber, food and beverage, tobacco, machinery, computers and electronics, minerals and metals, petroleum and coal, textiles, transportation equipment, paper and printing. Canada is also a global leader in the medical device market, particularly in digital radiography, in vitro diagnostics, cardiovascular devices, dental implants and materials, and home health-care products.
Manufacturing currently has about 50,000 fewer jobs than at this time last year. Nonetheless, sales have been increasing steadily over the past several months, with the gas, oil and mining machinery industry recently seeing its highest sales ever.
