Excerpted from the Spain Career Guide
Finance is among the industries expected to offer the best job opportunities this year. The new prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, has initiated a number of banking reforms this year, hoping to increase the flow of credit and attract foreign investment to Spain. Banking sector reforms have created areas of opportunity for ambitious and qualified professionals in Spain, particularly for advising and consulting roles. In general, financial occupations that help organizations keep costs down and comply with regulations are in demand.
Certifications and Educational Requirements
Financial and accounting positions in Spain are usually filled by graduates with degrees in economics or business administration. If an employer wishes to hire a foreigner for a job requiring a degree, the Ministerio de Educación (MEC) (Spanish Ministry of Education) determines the Spanish equivalent. In Spain, copies of degrees and other required information should be presented to the MEC (details below). In other countries, jobseekers must apply to the Spanish embassy or consulate. While those are not mandatory steps, they can ease job applications.
