Singapore is one of the world's most prosperous countries. The cosmopolitan city-state has a highly developed and successful free market economy, with a per capita GDP of 85,400 USD, the sixth-highest per capita GDP in the world. The country’s economy is open and corruption-free. Its infrastructure is outstanding, with excellent roads and air transport facilities.

Employment Outlook

In general, employment is holding steady, although jobs in manufacturing have dropped, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

More than 67,000 job openings are listed on JobsBank, a free, public jobs portal administered by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) for local individuals (Singapore citizens and permanent residents only) and Singapore-registered companies.

Talent Shortages

Supply chain: Demand is surging for supply chain professionals, particularly in FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), life sciences and health care, retail, e-commerce and compliance. These businesses are eager for supply chain candidates to help increase efficiencies and optimize their projects.


General Salary Trends

Median wage: The median gross monthly income last year was 3,949 USD.

Average wage: The average annual wage is 55,041 USD.

Accounting and Finance

Chief financial officers can command monthly salaries of 10,000 SGD to 20,000 SGD; and account managers, 5,000 SGD to 7,000 SGD. Fin-tech developers can earn 7,500 SGD to 12,000 SGD a month; compliance and risk VPs, 10,000 SGD to 17,000 SGD.
