Excerpted from the United Kingdom Career Guide
Expatriates are predominantly employed at the managerial or professional
level. They are least likely to be working in manufacturing or in local
and central government. The health care industry, which is struggling to
recruit qualified nurses, is one example of an area with employment opportunities
for non-Britons. Major investments in professional training in the UK are
taking place, but it will take a long time for the results to take effect.
In the meantime, the UK will continue to rely on overseas workers.
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI)
The CBI is an excellent source for expert advice and information on British
industry. Its range of highly regarded business services includes books
and practical guides; business surveys; business-to-business facilities;
events including conferences, workshops, seminars, roadshows, lunches, dinners,
and other networking opportunities; and links to online business information.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
