Excerpted from the Netherland Career Guide
The Netherlands has long-standing experience in technological innovation,
including expertise in engineering, coastal defense, hydrodynamics, optimum
cultivation, biotechnology, food processing, and agribusiness. This expertise
is due in part to having had to maximize the potential of its land, once
reclaimed from the sea.
Dutch companies have gathered knowledge about creating special constructions,
such as bridges and dikes, to fight the water. These companies have been,
and still are, involved in projects in other countries where special engineering
and construction skills are necessary. Specific examples include creating
an airport offshore in the Far East, special projects in the oil business
in Southwest Asia, and building huge bridges in many locations worldwide
