Excerpted from the Germany Career Guide
After strong, almost continual growth, including skyrocketing employment,
during the 1990s, the German IT and telecommunications market has been
hit hard by the economic downturn. Today the IT industry in Germany is
in a consolidation phase. Apart from a number of smaller high-tech companies
that survived the dot-com meltdown of recent years, the German market
is dominated by a few large players.
Verband der Softwareindustrie Deutschlands eV (VSI)
VSI represents the German software industry. Founded by software developers
in July 1987, it now represents software producing and distributing companies
as well as dealers, publishers, and training enterprises. VSI has more
than 120 member companies, representing about 80 percent of the standard
software industry turnover in Germany. Among VSIs many services
is a monthly newsletter called Newsflash. This website is in German only.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
