Excerpted from the Switzerland Career Guide
The Swiss service sector, particularly banking and financial services, is
the economys primary engine. But the countrys prosperity has
masked its rather inefficient economic performance in recent decades. Productivity
growth has been measurably weaker in Switzerland than in other industrialized
nations during the last two decades. Some of this has to do with inflexible
processes within Swiss businesses; some of it has to do with state influence
over certain industries. Recently, Switzerland has instituted reform in
the telecommunications, rail, and postal industries, which has increased
competition and should enhance the performance of those industries. Look
for other industries to be reformed in coming years.

Bundesamt fur Statistik
This government organization publishes a number of census-related publications
of interest to business. This is the place to look for information on retail
sales, social statistics, population statistics, the consumer price index,
employment and unemployment, and other business, social, and economic statistics.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
