Excerpted from the Netherlands Career Guide
Details are important as long as they give the employer a clear picture
of the applicants abilities and experience. Too much detail, however,
can be distracting. Applicants should remember that employers must read
so many applications that it is a good idea to create an application that
will stand out. Grades, certificates, and letters of recommendation should
not be included with the application up front. It is not common in the
Netherlands to include a photo with the CV for advanced professional positions.
In fact, for high-level professionals, it is considered inappropriate.
Handwritten letters should be sent only if this is specified in the job
announcement. It is not unusual to ask for information about salary, etc.,
during an initial talk with a company, and personal details, such as marital
status, are usually discussed.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
