Excerpted from the Netherlands Career Guide

People living in Amsterdam and other parts of the Netherlands like to get down to business rather quickly, so one can expect very little small talk past the introductions. When in a group setting, it is best to wait for a third party to make the introductions. Should this not happen, it is the individual’s responsibility to introduce him or herself. It is important in the Netherlands to repeat one’s last name during each handshake. It is also wise to remember the names of those in the party; contacts are very important when doing business in the Netherlands. Remember not to chew gum while talking. It is also considered rude to keep one’s hands in their pockets while talking or to keep the left hand in the pocket while shaking hands.

This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Netherlands guide.
