   :: Accounting & Finance

Excerpted from the Netherlands Career Guide

The international economic slowdown has had an impact on the finance and accounting industries, especially in those specialties that depend on exports or the sale of capital goods, such as manufacturing, wholesale trade, and construction. As a result, related sectors, such as business services, transport, banking, finance, and insurance, are also affected.

Financial services companies have announced a reduction in the number of workers within their companies, primarily in low-level jobs; experienced controllers are still needed. A substantial slowdown of output growth is expected in banking and insurance. Insurers will suffer from the new fiscal system, which makes buying single premium insurance policies less attractive to consumers.

Nederlandse Orde van Accountants-Administratieconsulenten (NOvAA)
This public body represents the AA-Accountant profession. The NOvAA was established as a public body with the implementation of the revised AA-Accountant Act of 10 September 1993. However, its history extends back to 1948, when the foundations for the current organization were laid. Under the AA-Accountant Act, the NOvAA is required to promote professionalism and the common interests of AAs. It is also responsible for monitoring the professional integrity of accountants and for providing or making arrangements for theoretical training programs.

This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
