Introductions usually consist of a formal title and family name. Keep
in mind that names are ordered with the last name first. Women living in
Hong Kong
generally do not take on their husbands names.
The formal greeting is a handshake and a slight bow or nod of the head.
Following the greeting, it is customary to distribute business cards.
Business cards should be printed in English on one side and Cantonese
on the other, using traditional Chinese characters. It is best to get
help from a local Hong Kong associate with this. The presentation of business
cards is extremely important. One should present and receive business
cards using both hands held open. When receiving a business card, you
should treat it with care, examining it closely. If seated at a table,
you should keep the business cards youve collected in front of
you during the meeting.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Hong Kong guide.
