Finland is one of the world’s most
forested countries. Two-thirds of its land area is covered by
forest. It is no surprise, then, that the forestry sector
traditionally has played a significant role in the Finnish economy.
Throughout its history, forestry
products have dominated Finnish exports and placed Finland in the
international economy. In the 1980s, Finland became the world’s
largest exporter of printing and paper with an estimated 25 percent
share of the world’s exports. Today, forestry products account for
some 30 percent of Finnish exports and the Finnish forestry sector
employs an estimated six percent of the employed work force,
according to a Virtual Finland report.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
