Jobseekers can look to the east to see
the changing economic trends for Austrian’s general business sector.
Austria has one of the best-performing economies in Europe owing
largely to expansion by countries in eastern and central Europe,
according to a survey by the Organization for Economic Cooperation
and Development (OECD). As a result, Austrian employers are looking
for experts with knowledge of Eastern Europe and a familiarity with
at least one regional language.
In Austrian companies that specialize
in sales/marketing services, the economic outlook continues to look
positive. The Austrian advertising industry reported a 3.6 billion
euro (4.75 billion USD) revenue, up by three percent over the
previous year, according to the Tyrol advertising industry
association. The print advertising sector which accounted for half
of the revenue in the industry grew by 2.6 percent. Radio and TV
advertising companies showed a 1.8 percent rise in revenue. Internet
ad revenues outgrew any single sector at 5.2 percent. The
advertising industry forecasts even stronger growth in the near
future, with between four to six percent revenue growth expected.
