   :: Resume/CVs

Excerpted from the Austria Career Guide

Over the past decade, and particularly since Austria’s entry into the European Union in 1995, Austrian résumés/CVs increasingly follow general Western European standards. While certain regional distinctions remain, they are of minor importance in so far as applications by expatriates are concerned.

Both the cover letter and résumé/CV should indicate professional competence and basic familiarity with Austrian protocol. The cover letter, addressed directly to the contact person in the company, should be no longer than one page.

Due to the stringent work permit restrictions, it is highly recommended that applicants mention if they possess an Austrian work permit or are an EU citizen.

You’ll find specific examples of cover letters and CV’s relevant to Austria in the complete Austria guide.
