New website aims to convince expats to stay longer in the country
The Ministry of Integration has set up a new website to help foreigners make Danish friends and hopefully decide to stay in the country.
The new website is aimed at providing single foreigners, couples and families with a social network while living in Denmark.
According to the ministry, four out of ten of the expat specialists who move here say that they are surprised how asocial Danes are, while six out of ten state that it is difficult to make Danish friends.
In a press release, the integration minister Birthe Rønn Hornbech said she was happy to launch a national initiative that would allow foreign employees to reach out to Danes. It would help foreign workers and students to stay in the country for longer periods, she added.
Letsmeetin.dk was developed by Foreningen Nydansker in collaboration with the Expat in Denmark consortium, Work in Denmark and Welcometo.dk. You can access the site and set up your own profile at http://letsmeetin.dk/
