Dress for an interview should always
be formal and conservative. Men generally wear business suits and
ties. Women generally wear skirt suits or more formal dresses.
Clothing should be pressed and neat and shoes should be polished.
The Danes are very punctual people, so
it is essential to arrive on time. The handshake is the standard
form of greeting in Denmark. When meeting, it is customary to greet
each person present with a brief, firm handshake. There is no
physical contact beyond the greeting and there is little small talk.
Danes like to get right down to business. Listening to the
interviewer and asking questions to show interest are important, but
the candidate should not interrupt the speaker. Giving examples of
prior work situations and demonstrating problem-solving skills are
important facets of the interview.
