   :: Financial Considerations

Excerpted from the Switzerland Career Guide

The cost of living in Switzerland is rather high. An international cost of living index (with the United States at 100) shows Switzerland to be at 167, compared to its neighbors France at 131, Germany at 122 and Italy at 128.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find housing in Switzerland, especially in the major cities. There is a shortage of land for building and there are many people who would like to live in these areas. Rents are high, and one should budget a quarter to a third of one's net income for rent.

This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Switzerland guide.
