Excerpted from the Japan Career Guide
Japan is one of the most, if not the most, expensive countries
in the world. Corporate jobs that expatriates typically hold are usually
located in the Tokyo area. Tokyo is an expensive and crowded city. Taxi
fares from airports to downtown Osaka and Tokyo are exceedingly expensive.
Support from an employer is absolutely necessary to maintain a normal
quality of life. Rent, communication costs, parking, utilities, and transportation
are at premium prices. Outside of Tokyo, there is more space, living accommodations
are larger and less expensive, and personal transportation is a more affordable
option.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Japan guide.
