:: Accounting & Finance |
Excerpted from the Japan Career Guide
Deregulation in Japan and the need for accounting and financial specialists
in foreign-capitalized firms have precipitated a significant increase
in finance and accounting career opportunities. Qualified accountants
of all levels are in demand as foreign companies tighten their belts to
struggle with the decline in the economies of home offices.
One area in which foreigners often identify opportunity is the financial
advisory business, selling investments to Japanese (and foreigners in
Japan) who wish to get more than the typical returns offered
at Japanese banks, and helping them to invest in more lucrative assets
overseas.
The Japan Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA)
The objective of this organization is to maintain a high level of ethical
standards and to improve professional services within the CPA profession.
Qualified individuals who wish to practice with the title of CPA must
register with the JICPA and join its membership. Members consist of CPAs,
foreign CPAs (qualified by passing a special examination), audit corporations,
and junior CPAs.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
