   :: General Business - Sales & Marketing

Excerpted from the Hong Kong Career Guide

The general business climate is buzzing in almost every direction, from media and marketing to sales, tourism, advertising and public relations. In view of Hong Kong’s current good retail market, fresh university graduates can look forward to promising careers in many sectors, particularly in the marketing and sales sectors according to data provided by the CareerMatch Human Resources Consultancy. "This year the market is very good; the number of jobs has increased. Undergraduates can find work more easily and earlier than last year," CareerMatch Director Benny Hui told the South China Morning Post. "Many of the jobs are in marketing and sales, and companies in these fields are interested in recruiting students from all different backgrounds."

The position of sales representatives is the most difficult to fill according to a recent survey by Manpower. This is not good news for a shopping paradise like Hong Kong, where retailers already pay top dollar for skilled labor. But with the hot retail boom in Hong Kong, staff turnover and vacancies are likely to stay high. The need for sales talent expands to other categories, including management executives, administrative assistants, buying staff, customer service representatives and sales managers.

This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Hong Kong guide.
