   :: Automotive Industry

Excerpted from the Germany Career Guide

Traditionally, the automotive industry has been strong in Germany. Many leading car producers are of German origin and still have their headquarters in Germany. Some have been taken over by large corporations (e.g. Opel by General Motors), but others have remained strong global producers. The largest German car manufacturers include BMW (Bayerische Moterenwerke), the German part of Daimler Chrysler (formerly known as Mercedes Benz), Porsche, Audi and VW (Volkswagen).

Around these large corporations, both large and small automotive suppliers have developed. They employ a notable number of both skilled and unskilled laborers. Robert Bosch GmbH is the second largest job creator in Germany, recently creating 2,000 jobs and becoming the world’s largest automotive supplier. BMW claimed third place with 1,436 new employees. BMW created more jobs than any other Germany company.

This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
