Excerpted from the Finland Career Guide
The recent economic downturn has had a significant impact on the Finnish
IT industry, lessening the need for new recruits. Many IT companies have
cut their workforces significantly. At the same time, however, many companies
are short of skilled labor. One trend among IT professionals in these
uncertain times has been to move from small enterprises to larger, more
stable companies.
Finnish Information Processing Association, FIPA (Tietotekniikan
Liitto)
FIPA is the parent organization to 25 member societies in the IT industry,
involving about 27,000 individual members and nearly 700 companies all
over Finland. Activities sponsored by FIPA include seminars, lectures,
training and networking events. FIPA also publishes job openings on its
website. The site is available in Finnish, with some parts translated
to English.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete guide.
