Typical business attire for men is a suit or sports jacket and tie. Women
should wear skirt suits or dresses. Clothing should be neat and pressed,
and shoes should always be polished. Higher-ranking executives may host
black-tie events, requiring more formal wear, such as tuxedos for men
and long evening gowns for women. Casual attire is still fairly conservative.
Jeans are frequently worn by both sexes, especially if the position does
not require meeting clients. Neatness is highly valued while living in Denmark.
Handshakes are the accepted form of greeting in Denmark. One should not
be surprised to be greeted with a firm handshake, even by a child. When
this occurs, it is appropriate to reciprocate the handshake. Danes shake
hands for greetings and good-byes. Having entered a room full of people
is it customary for one to go around the room and shake hands with everyone,
this also applies when leaving.
This is just a sample of what you'll find in the complete Denmark guide.
